Many of Britain's insects are associated with the unique habitats and spectacular scenery of Scotland. These include the Mountain Ringlet, Erebia epiphron, and the Scotch Argus, E. aethiops, butterflies, which are common in parts of the uplands, as well as specialist hoverflies such as Callicera rufa and Blera fellax, whose larvae feed in timber of the Caledonian pinewoods.
