Chamomile, Chamaemelum nobile, 'the herb of humility', is an unassuming flower with the appearance of a rather wilted daisy. This humble plant has been used in the treatment of a variety of ailments for the last 2,000 years. Ancient Egyptians revered it for its virtues and, in their belief in its power to cure ague, dedicated it to their Gods. It also has royal connections and is grown in the lawns of Kensington and Buckingham Palaces.
