The Red Fox Vulpes vulpes has the widest geographical distribution of any terrestrial carnivore and is found throughout the northern hemisphere, as well as in Australia, where it was introduced for hunting. It occupies a diverse array of habitats ranging from arctic tundra to deserts. During the last century, Foxes also colonised many towns and cities, and urban Fox poplations are now common in America, Australia, Canada, Japan and many European countries. However, urban Foxes are still most widespread in Britain.
