"The record so far in the now infamous Set-aside Massacre on 1993 seems to be held by a Yorkshire farmer who, in the course of ploughing a 14-acre field in May, managed to run over i) two Snipe nests, ii) three Lapwing chicks, iii) two Grey Partridge nests and an adult, iv) one adult Pheasant and seven poults, v) one Skylark nest, vi) three Meadow Pippit nests, vii) one Willow Warbler nest. Altogether it was quite am impressive bag, and I wouldn't be surprised if he won a Green Farming award.
