Comment: Planting to assist recovery

Planting has often been framed as diametrically opposed to the naturalist’s notions of ‘wildness’. In this comment piece, Max Coleman meditates on this perceived incompatibility and advocates for a pragmatic approach to planting, with limited application based on sound ecological reasoning.  

This article makes a case for limited planting in wilding projects to assist the recovery of threatened plants. It is also a commentary on what has become a polarised debate. The decision to plant is nuanced and not an easy yes or no choice.
