"In these times of uncertainty and doubt, one naturally turns to the Wildlife Trusts forwords of hope and consolation. But their first post-referendum message to the troops is a disappointment, for it seems to have been compiled by a committee. Here is the gist of it: 'a time to focus…real pressure…very real risk,..seize the moment…a healthy natural environment,..build a better future,.,irrespective of cultural, religious, ethnic or political backgrounds'. Oh dear, A flock of parrots could do better. Above all, the Trusts need to pay more attention to tone."
